Dr. Alexandra Bonner, PT, DPT
I received my BS in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University in 2012. After graduation, I worked as a wellness coordinator and fitness instructor for the Environmental Protection Agency and corporate companies in Research Triangle Park. I received both classical and comprehensive training as a Pilates instructor through Balanced Body and taught Pilates for 4 years. I loved personal training and coaching fitness classes, but I was thirsty to learn more about the human body. I wanted to better be able to serve my clients that were injured, post-operative, or just needed a little more than what a standard group exercise class could offer.
In 2019, I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Campbell University. I have experience in treating a broad spectrum of patients ranging rom pediatrics to geriatrics. My bread and butter lies in treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction and spinal conditions. I love designing rehabilitative and exercise programs that are practical. How many times have we all failed to follow "doctor's orders?" Rehab should be individualized, collaborative, and most importantly, realistic. Just like any other healthy habit, the effort continues long after we are finished!
I have specialty training in the Schroth Method, the gold standard for physical therapy treatment of scoliosis and spinal deformities, as well as additional training in pregnancy and postpartum rehabilitation. I am currently one of the only providers in Tennessee with specialty training in treating both scoliosis and pelvic floor conditions.
